License keys
Your Chessware license key - where to find it, how it locks to one PC, when its time starts, and how to move it to another PC.
Your license key is what you type into Chessware to log in.
Where to find it
Your dashboard → Licenses tab. The key is hidden until you reveal or copy it. Keys look like PREFIX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX — a short prefix and four groups of five characters.
One Discord account, one PC
A key is linked to your Discord account when you buy (or redeem) it, and locks to the first PC that logs in with it. Both checks have to pass every time — at login and on every re-check while it runs.
When your time starts
Your plan's time starts at first log-in on the key, not at purchase. An unactivated key waits in your inventory with its full length.
Moving to another PC
Ask for a device reset in our Discord (your username plus the last 5 characters of your key). We'll unlock the key so it locks to the new PC instead. The fingerprint is a one-way hash — we can't read your hardware from it.
Redeeming a gifted key
Dashboard → Licenses → Redeem a key, then activate it from your inventory when you want its time to start.
Keeping it safe
- Don't post your key anywhere public.
- Don't share or resell it — that's the main reason keys get revoked.
When a key stops working
- Expired — the plan's time ran out. Buy a new one and it's added to your inventory.
- Revoked — refunded, misused or shared. Support can tell you why.
- Locked to another PC — ask for a device reset.
