Cookie Policy
Chessware uses only essential cookies to keep you signed in and secure. We use no analytics or advertising cookies, so there's no cookie banner.

This Cookie Policy explains how [Company legal name] ("we", "us") uses cookies on https://chessware.net and in your dashboard.
The short version
We use only essential cookies: the ones needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Essential cookies don't need your consent under cookie laws, so we don't show a cookie banner.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages, such as the fact that you're signed in.
This policy also covers similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage. If we use them, it's only for the same essential purposes.
Cookies we use
| Category | What it does | Do we use it? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary: sign-in session | Keeps you signed in to your dashboard as you move between pages | Yes |
| Strictly necessary: security | Protects your session and the sign-in process against misuse, such as forged requests | Yes |
| Preferences | Remembers optional choices, such as display settings | No |
| Analytics | Measures how visitors use the site | No |
| Advertising and tracking | Builds profiles of you or shows targeted ads | No |
Session cookies last until you sign out or your session expires. Account → Sign out everywhere in your dashboard ends your sessions on all devices.
Cookies set by other companies
To sign in, you're sent to Discord to approve the connection, and to pay, you use Stripe's payment pages. While you're on their pages, Discord and Stripe may set their own cookies, for example for security and fraud prevention. Those cookies are controlled by them, not us, and are covered by their own policies:
Controlling cookies
You can view, block or delete cookies in your browser's settings, and most browsers let you block cookies for particular sites. Your browser's help pages explain how.
Because our cookies are essential, blocking them will stop you from signing in to your dashboard.
Changes to this policy
If we ever want to use non-essential cookies, such as analytics, we'll update this page first and ask for your consent before setting them. You'll be able to say no and still use the site.
